Interview with Self-Publisher Jupiter Rose

1. What can you tell me about your experience as a writer?

It’s all about learning and growing as a writer. No one’s perfect. I become a better writer with each book I write, sometimes I don’t make it halfway through a book with discovering something new.  I have loved every minute of it.

2. What made you decide to write a book?

I always wrote poetry growing up, it was natural for me, but I never considered writing a book until later in life. I was hurt in a car accident and needed something to do with my time.

3. What circumstances brought you to the decision to self-publish your book?

I can do everything ta traditional publisher can within a few months. I don’t mind waiting if the publisher has something to offer me, but self-publishing is much easier, and you are in control of your work.

4. What has your experience as a self-publisher been like?

My experience has been pretty good. I’m not very social but I’m learning how to be. I think marketing is the hardest part.

5. How do you respond to the negative stigma attached to self-publishing and self-published books?

To be truthful I never noticed the negative stigma attached to it. I’m part of a great community or readers and writers.

6. What is one very important lesson you have learned as a self-publisher?

Make sure your cover matches your blurb. Also, key words are vital in both marketing and publishing.

7. What do you know now about self-publishing that you wish you knew at the beginning?

That it means long days and it’s no different than any other business.

8. A lot of authors of self-published books have reservations about promoting and marketing their book. Some even feel that it is a form of vanity or self-importance. What is your opinion about this?

If that was the case anyone with anything to sell in this world is suffering from the same thing. It’s a dog-eat-dog world and self-published books deserve just as much of a chance as anything else sold in this miss matched world.

9. How do you promote your books and what form of book promotion has worked the best for you?

None of it works best it’s all hard work. It takes time, effort, and money to market.

10.  What are some other important things you have learned as a self-publisher?

Everything takes time and patience.

11. Do you feel that self-publishing is a viable choice for other authors?

It depends on what they are willing to do and how they feel about it. It’s not for everyone but anyone can do it.

12.  How do you feel that self-publishing their books has helped many unknown authors finally get the recognition their books deserve?

Everyone is different. Some succeed at it while others haven’t. I think it’s just another way of publishing your wiring. Your writing will speak for itself traditional or self-published.
